Paramjeet K. Randhawa, Ph.D.

I currently work as a Managing Editor at American Journal Experts. I edit manuscripts for non-native English speakers in many fields including pharmacology, clinical medicine, public health and healthcare, biological modeling, and biological sciences.

In May 2011, I received my Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My graduate work was in the laboratory of Dr. Victoria Bautch at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I studied a signaling pathway in blood vessels that mediates the development of embryos in diabetic mothers.

In May 2001, I graduated with high honors from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a minor in Psychology. Supported by a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, I conducted research with Dr. Barry Bean studying Premature Ovarian Failure. My senior thesis project was to screen patient sera for antibodies to different zona pellucida proteins using ELISA.

In July 2001, I joined Dr. Paul Janmey’s lab at the University of Pennsylvania as a Research Specialist. During my time at UPenn, I managed the lab and worked on several research projects including studies on platelet aggregation, GLUT4 signaling in adipocytes, gelsolin activity, and thrombin-catalyzed fibrin polymerization.

Finally, I embarked on my graduate career as one of the first students in the NIH-UNC Graduate

Partnership Program. I rotated in Dr. Richard Cheney’s lab at UNC and Dr. Julie Donaldson’s lab at the NIH before choosing to perform my thesis work with Dr. Bautch.

Outside the lab, I volunteer for CAN-TR, a therapeutic riding center for children. I enjoy working with people and am very interested in vascular pathology. I would like to pursue a career in understanding the effects of disease, particularly diabetes or cancer.
